Sailing

It is better to bring bags on board. There is storage space on board however suitcases will not fit So do not bring to much clothing, better to bring more swimwear as most of the day you will wear this.
On the Sailing yachts Amazon and the Eos there is a large fridge on board that operates 24 hours a day. It will therefore not be needed to switch off the fridge during the night as like recommanded on lots of other charter yachts.
You will be able to get your basic groceries once you are on your way. Also fresh bread is available in the local bakeries in each village. Nevertheless we would recommend you to do your large shopping in Gouvia on Corfu as you will not find any large supermarket once you are on your way. We also have a grocery service, so can make sure that all your shopping is already in the fridge once you step on board.
In every cabin you will find two USB plugs. There is also a 220 Volt connection available to charge your laptop, tablet or camera battery.
There are several nice routes to sail around Corfu. The most common winds around Corfu comes from the North West and therefore the East coast of Corfu is reasonably sheltered. Alon the East coast you will find lots of small villages with nice beaches in natural bays. In most of these villages there are also nice taverna's. Along the North coast of Corfu it is not so easy to find a shertered bay to anchor for the night. Only in Kassiopi you are able to find proper shelter for the night, although be aware that the harbour is very shallow and busy during the high season. On the west coast the only sheltered bay is Paleokastritsa. These deep natural bays will give good prtection against the incoming waves and you will find lots of taverna's. In addition, the Diapondia islands northwest of Corfu are recommended. This group of islands was mostly abandoned by the inhabitants in the sixties and seventies. These islands are still very authentic. There are a number of small harbors / bays on these islands where you can take a dip in extremely clear water and where you will find nice tavernas right on the coast.
If you sail with a skipper, he can set out a nice route. See our examples of routes. Because most days of the year it is not really windy in the morning, he chooses to do fun things such as water skiing, snorkeling, etc. After lunch around one o'clock the wind starts to pick up and it is time to relax and go sailing. With a wonderful sailing wind it is not necessary to use the engine and we sail for three or four hours towards the next destination where we will drop anchor. Afterwards you can swim, snorkel or practice other water sports again. In the evening, or cook yourself on board, have a BBQ or eat in a local taverna. After a nice drink on board look at the stars and sleep. Everyone can get up at any time in the morning. The skipper gets fresh bread from the bakery and other groceries that are needed
